The Little Boy With The Big Art

THE LITTLE BOY WITH THE BIG ART

When Jack Henderson’s little brother Noah became a frequent in-patient at The Royal Hospital
for Sick Children in Edinburgh, six-year-old Jack turned to his crayons to say thank you! After
a family friend bought one of his drawings for 20p, Jack came up with the idea “to draw anything” in return for
donations to the hospital that treats his two-year-old brother. His parents set up a website and thought they might make £100. After two weeks, Jack had over 500 picture requests and had raised over £10,000 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation. Their fundraising target has been raised and repeatedly smashed. The new figure now
exceeds £26,000.

JACK DRAWS ANYTHING GOES GLOBAL
Jack Henderson became an overnight sensation when his fundraising efforts went viral. The Jack Draws Anything website has now received over 300,000 hits from countries as far flung as Azerbaijan, Costa Rica and Venezuela. Jack has touched the hearts of people all over the world with his wonderfuldrawings. His adorable pictures range from the very first Dinosaur diving into a pool of jelly to #21 Big smiley bumblebee (one of Jack’s favourites) to the more recent #290 Large smiling sun which sees Jack move into mixed media!

Jack’s campaign has now been nominated for the Social Campaign of the Year by .net magazine alongside popular household names Barbie & Ken, The Muppets and Jennifer Aniston!’

Jack is also a finalist in the Child of the Year category at this year’s Bighearted Scotland Awards.

JACK HENDERSON, LITERARY SENSATION
Jack is set to become one of Britain’s youngest authors when Hodder Children’s Books publish Jack Draws Anything in October. The book will feature a collection of Jack’s drawings and will tell the stories behind the pictures. A share of profits from its sale will go to the Sick Kids’ Friends Foundation.

Anne McNeil, Publishing Director of Hodder Children’s Books, said:
“The joy of a book like this is the authentic creativity and kindness of the child at the heart of it. Thank you to Jack. We’re so proud to publish it.”

600 DRAWINGS, 48 FELT TIP PENS, 32 CRAYONS AND 1 ARTIST
Jack is nearing the end of his requests and is due to finish at the end of October. He spends around 30 to 40 minutes on each picture and gets to choose which picture to do next. Publication of Jack Draws Anything will coincide with the end of the fundraising campaign.
