This is a brand new linky which I hope mums will support.
There is news happening in our city/town/village, in our country, in our world. Where do you get your news from? The newspaper, the radio, the television or through word of mouth?
This linky is all about encouraging mums to have their say on news stories whether they are local, national or global in significance.
The rules are simple. Blog about something in the news this week and link up your post giving your thoughts and feelings on the topic. You might want to rant, you might want to rave, you might want to analyse, you might want to laugh out loud. It is up to you so long as it is about news or current affairs.
Here is my entry this week to start the ball rolling. Really hoping you will join in and show that yes, we have got mums’ news for you.
This week saw the marking of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 disaster.
I felt it was important to follow the news coverage of this to pay my quiet respects to those affected.
Even after 10 years, the images of that day remain shocking.
What I got out of the news as I watched family members read out the names of those lost was that although the big number of fatalities that day was important, it has somewhat masked the stories of real individuals. Those people had stories, diverse backgrounds and experiences. They were loved by family, friends and colleagues.
I also reflected how so often when things go badly wrong, humanity seems to show itself at its very best with people expressing love and putting others ahead of themselves.
Finally, I loved the story of the pear tree that survived that day. A symbol of hope.
What are your thoughts on the news this week? A reminder – feel free to link up your blog posts on ANY aspect of current affairs this week. The linky remains open for a few days.
Now please do link up.
