Knitters across the UK are being asked to support The Big Knit 2011 by getting creative and knitting little woolly hats which will sit on innocent smoothie bottles from 16th to 30th November.
For each be-hatted smoothie sold innocent will give 25p to Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign, helping to fund national and local winter projects.
Jo Shepheard Fundraising Manager at Age UK Leeds said: “Winter can be a difficult time of year for many older people. The funds raised locally by The Big Knit will go a long way towards supporting various local winter projects in Leeds. We are calling on knitters in Leeds to be creative and get knitting to help us reach our target of 3,800 hats for this year’s Big Knit. A huge thank you to all those who have knitted for us in the past please contact me if you are ready to knit again! ”
Emma Hines from innocent drinks said: “innocent and Age UK have been working together on this campaign for 8 years and it’s something we’re immensely proud of. Through The Big Knit, thousands of people across the UK will help make winter a little warmer for older people.”
