Bargain-hunting and Magpie Monday

On Mondays, mummy bloggers join in a blog hop called Magpie Monday hosted by the Me and My Shadow blog.  We celebrate our bargains whether found on Ebay, via Netmums, charity shops, car boot sales or other sources.

I have had a good week booty-wise so here is a little selection.

My youngest son has wanted a bike for a few weeks so I picked up this beauty for a fiver.  He rode it all round the car boot sale field and I don’t doubt that the stabilisers will be coming off very soon.

Not to be outdone, my other son asked if he could have this tractor type vehicle.  Haggling was done and we got this for £8.  It actually comes with another part that attaches to the back so that they can collect weeds or whatever.

Of course, if darling daughter is looking for anything, it tends to be pink and the brighter the better.  She bought thse roller skates for just 50 pence.  You can tell she spent yesterday afternoon learning to skate well by the addition of her pink fluffy slippers.

I bought this little box as I was looking for somewhere to keep cross-stich projects.  The woman on the stall said it would probably be too small but they fit in it perfectly well and it cost me just 30 pence.

I had forgotten what fun car boot sales can be with the huge diversity of items for sale and the banter with stall-holders.  This one was enhanced as there was a playpark for the children and a village hall serving bacon butties and home-made cake.  Wonderful.

  4. One of my very favourite things about car boot sales is that you just never know what you’re going to find – so much better than shopping in regular shops, where it’s just the ‘same old, same old’ all the times!
